Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or fail
This does not make you a failure. We all fail at some point in our lives and we all make mistakes. Just don’t keep repeating the same unhealthy patterns. Mistakes help you to learn and learning helps you grow and evolve. Learn the lesson it taught, pick yourself up, and try again. You are never a failure because you made a mistake, they help us to learn a better way. Every lesson we learn makes us wiser and stronger, so make mistakes, learn, and move on.
Make yourself happy
Happiness comes from within. The feeling of being happy should come from mindfulness, gratitude, pride, and love for yourself. Have confidence and know that you can take care of yourself. Invest in yourself and your life and learn to make yourself happy and not rely on another person or outside factors. They can contribute to your joy, but true happiness is created inside of you.
Strive for progress not perfection
There is no such thing as perfect. Whatever you do in life, keep getting better at it. Learn new skills. Try a new activity. Have goals and work towards them every day. Strive to be a better version of yourself compared to who you were yesterday. Your journey to success is not linear and there will always be bumps in the road. Focus on your destination while continuously improving yourself along the way.
Count your blessings
Practice gratitude. There will always be hard times but remember there is always something to be grateful for. The feeling of the warm sun on your face when you’re out on your afternoon walk, the smell of lilac flowers, the comfort you feel when you are with someone you love, or the sound of children’s laughter. Be grateful for your friendships, your family, your experiences good and bad, and your inner strength. You have a lot of strengths and a lot to be grateful for.
Pursue your passion
Do what you love, and love what you do. Find your calling and listen to your heart.Find what you love to do, whatever it is that makes you happy and inspires you and pursue it. Engaging in ideas and activities you’re passionate about brings joy and fulfillment to your life. Find your talent or your hobby that you’re really good at and stick with it.
Set boundaries and stick to them
Don’t be afraid to say no and speak your mind. When you feel that uncomfortable feeling inside, listen to what your body is telling you. Stand up for yourself and don’t be afraid to speak your truth. Be unapologetic about your needs, thoughts and ideas and do not tolerate disrespect.
Take care of yourself first
Make your health your top priority. Keep up with your doctor’s appointments and do not neglect your needs. Self-care is not selfish. Never let yourself get too overwhelmed with life that you get too busy to take care of yourself. Get the appropriate amount of sleep, take time for yourself, maintain a healthy diet, and move your body. Prioritizing your health is essential. Don’t give in to unhealthy quick dopamine fixes. Instead go for a jog, spend time with a good friend, spend time in nature or write in a journal.
Don’t compare yourself to others
Everyone you meet is on a different journey. Someone else’s success story may look different than yours. You don’t know the full story of how a person ended up where they are. We all have different upbringings and are taught different lessons. Don’t think you are a failure because your life or timeline doesn’t match someone else’s. You never know what is going on in someone’s life. It may look happy on the outside but you never know what is going on in their personal life. Your journey is yours alone.
You can do hard things
You’re stronger than you think you are. Take the challenge and don’t be afraid to try something new.Do the hard thing no matter how much it scares you. Don’t be afraid to come out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. You’ll be surprised at how much you can achieve in life by just going for something rather than making up reasons that you can’t.
Practice emotional regulation
It’s not about what happens in life, it’s how you react to it. Control your reactions. Sometimes circumstances are outside of your control so learn to control your reaction. Getting worked up, overreacting or getting angry will not help the situation. Practice mindfulness and staying calm and realize that if something does not go as planned, it’s not the end of the world.
Never settle for less than you deserve
This goes for romantic relationships, friendships, or jobs. Know your worth and don’t settle for less. If you feel that you are not being treated fairly and with respect, don’t be afraid to get up and walk away. Always aim high. Nothing is too far out of your reach if you truly believe that you deserve it. Maintain self-respect at all times and refuse to tolerate mistreatment.
You’ve made it through every one of your toughest days thus far
You will have bad days. There will be tough times. When times get hard and you’re struggling just remember you figured it out somehow and made it through the hard times you had in the past. You moved on and you learned that lesson and you realized everything will be OK. Situations will come up and you will not always make the best choices but everything will work out. On the other hand, you will also have wonderful days and at times things will work out perfectly. The most important thing to remember is to learn to be present and enjoy where you are in the moment.
